January 16, 2025: Back on the Market

Sacramento, CA: Front of House (1/16/2025) On this day, our Sacramento home is back on the market. Our agent is Parm Atwal of Keller Williams. The list price is set to $675,000 ($263/square foot).

According to Investopedia.com, the current mortgage rate for a 30 year loan is 7.05% for people with excellent credit.

January 18-19, 2025: Open House and Auburn, CA

Parm Atwal, our realtor, held her first open house. To accomodate this event, Arlyn and I had to pack up and leave for a couple of days. We drove to Auburn, CA to stay overnight.

Here is the email our realtor distributed notifying potential buyers about the Open House event.

I booked a single night stay at the SpringHill Suites Auburn. Since the Open House event was scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM, we had to go with an early check in. We enjoyed the automatic upgrade to our room due to my elevated Bonvoy status. We also had to request a late checkout on Sunday because of the lateness of the Open House. In that regard, the hotel was very accomodating. The thing that was somewhat annoying was the $20.00 per day parking charge. The parking lot, for the most part, was empty.

Grass Valley, CA: Landscaping (1/18/2025) Upon arriving in the Auburn area, we grabbed lunch at this fun dining establishment called Awful Annie's. After lunch, we drove to Grass Valley to walk around and enjoy the vibe of this Gold Country town. We picked up some of Arlyn's favorite snack food, Rocky Road fudge, from the Lazy Dog Chocolateria. It was starting to get very hot in the afternoon sun, so we drive back to our room in Auburn. For dinner, we finished our Awful Annies' leftovers.

For Sunday, we dined at the hotel's buffet for breakfast. For lunch, we hit up a Mexican place called El Tapatio in Auburn. I had one of their burritos. This thing was so large, it was actually enough food for three meals.

We used this opportunity to test the programs, funcationality and connectivity of our laptops. We knew we would be moving soon and our reliance on our laptops would be great. Being away for a single night gave us a change to ensure we still had access to everything with the appropriate level of access. We identified some 'holes' that needed to be plugged that we would address once we returned home. It was a very successful test.

January 25-26, 2025: Open House

A second weekend if Open Houses occurred. On Saturday, 1/25/2025, it was from 11 AM to 2 PM. On Sunday, 1/26/2025, it was from 12 PM to 3 PM.

February 2, 2025: Open House

Another open house, this time on Sunday, 2/2/2025, it was from 12 PM to 3 PM. No one comes. It rained alot.

February 4, 2025: Open House

At this point, we had five open houses and two private showings. There was offer that was ridiculously low. After discussing our options, Arlyn and I decided to lower the price from $675,000 to $659,000, a decrease of $16,000. The feed back from the showings has been very positive with only one negative, the price point. Hopefully, by lowering the price, we can address this.

February 8, 2025: Open House and Superbowl

Sunday, February 9th, 2025, is Superbowl weekend. So we asked for no showings and open houses for that day. But we did have a showing and an open house on Saturday, February 8th, 2025.

February 11, 2025: House in Contract State

Both the sellers and buyers agree to a price. We are now in a state called 'in contract.'

February 14, 2025: House in Pending State

The accepted offer pushed the sale of the house into a pending state.

March 4, 2025: Homeless

The paperwork is all completed. The our home is officially sold. Time to start packing.
