My 2025 Toyota Fortuner was bumped by another vehicle while parked at the Mandani Bay Suites garage on August 12th, 2026. A small amount of damage occurred as a result of the bump. The driver of the other vehicle took responsibility of the incident. The cost to repair the damage was ₱9,930.99.
Details
On the morning of Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at around 8:00 AM, I received a phone call on the condo land line. It was the Mandani Bay Suites security desk. The stated that my 2025 Toyota Fortuner was hit while it was parked in the Mandani Bay Suite garage. They requested my presence at the vehicle.
Arlyn and I went to our car. It was parked in our assigned parking space B-261. There were two security guards and a civilian standing around the car. There was a black SUV parked directly in front of my car. It was very close to my car.
The security guards stated that my car was bumped by the black SUV. The driver of the SUV was the civilian standing with us. The civilian, whom I will call Sam, stated that when he was parking his SUV the night before, he parked too close to my car and bumped it.
The black SUV was backed into his parking space.
My car was parked with the nose first into the parking space.
It should be noted that The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and Philippine traffic laws (such as Republic Act No. 4136) do not have a nationwide law that explicitly mandates parking nose-first or rear-first in standard parking slots.
Sam stated that he would take full responsibility for the incident and is willing to pay for any repairs. I took a picture of his license along with images of the damage to my vehicle and his. He had other business to attend to. We exchange phone numbers on Viber and he left.
Later that day, Arlyn and I took the Toyota to the dealership and received a quote for the repair work needed to address the damage. Click here to view the dealership estimate. According to the estimate, it was going to cost ₱10,434.00. I passed along a copy of the estimate to Sam. He approved the estimate and said to proceed with the repairs.
On Friday, August 14th, 2026, Arlyn and I dropped off the car at the dealership and walked back to Mandani Bay Suites.
On Monday, August 17th, 2026, we received all call that the car was ready for pickup. Arlyn and I took a taxi to the dealership and picked it up. The actual cost was ₱9,930.99. Click here to view the dealership invoice.
I notified Sam of the actual invoice amount. He arranged to have ₱10,000.00 sent to us via GCash. The next day, we received the funds. There was no issue.
